Welcome to the Village Community

Welcoming new families

Starting your child’s early learning journey is an exciting milestone, and we’re so glad you’re considering Village. We warmly welcome you and your child into our community.

Our team of experienced and dedicated educators create supportive, engaging environments where children feel confident to learn, grow, and explore. We’re here to work alongside you, building a strong partnership from the very beginning.

This page will give you an overview of what to expect as you start your journey with us.

Getting Help with Fees and Subsidies

We understand that navigating childcare fees and subsidies can feel complex. Our team is here to support you with information about available funding options, including the Child Care Subsidy and kindergarten funding where applicable.

If you’re unsure where to start, we’re happy to guide you through the process and help you understand your out-of-pocket costs.

What to Expect on Your Child’s First Day

Starting care can be a big step for both children and families. Our educators are experienced in supporting children through this transition, helping them feel safe and settled from the beginning.

You’ll be welcomed into the centre, and our team will take the time to get to know your child, including their interests, routines, and any specific needs. Throughout the day, your child will be gently introduced to daily routines such as meals, play, and rest.

What to Bring

Depending on your child’s needs, please bring:

  • Spare clothes – weather appropriate
  • A hat – Wide brim
  • A water bottle
  • Comforters or dummies(if needed)
  • Formula/breast milk and empty bottles (if required)
  • Medications

All items must be clearly labelled with your child’s name.

What We Provide

To help your child settle in, we provide an enrolment pack for new families. This may include a bag and hat, with drink bottles provided for older children.

Children in our kindergarten program may also receive a small keepsake to mark this stage of their learning journey.

Orientation Sessions

We offer orientation sessions to help children and families become familiar with the centre before their first day. These visits allow your child to explore the environment, meet educators, and begin building a sense of comfort and belonging.

During this time, we’ll also connect with you to learn more about your child and your family, including:

  • Your child’s interests and routines
  • Any additional needs or health considerations
  • Cultural or language background
  • Family goals and expectations
  • Dietary requirements or allergies
  • Daily routines and care needs

This helps us provide a smooth and personalised start.

Staying Connected

We value open and ongoing communication with families. We use an online platform called OWNA to share updates about your child’s day, learning, and experiences, helping you stay connected even when you’re not at the centre.

We also encourage regular conversations with our team and welcome your input as part of your child’s learning journey.

Supporting You and Your Family

Every family is different, and we respect and support a range of parenting approaches. Our goal is to work in partnership with you, creating a consistent and supportive experience between home and the centre.

If you’re looking for additional information or resources, our team is always available to help.
